But a bigger responsibility awaits him once he comes down to the earth from the clouds. According to reports from New Delhi, Chiranjeevi is most likely to be appointed as the All India Congress Committee in-charge of Tamil Nadu affairs very soon. An order to this effect might be issued any time, say these reports.
It is learnt Chiranjeevi, who is still the Congress party’s Rajya Sabha member, had met party vice-president Rahul Gandhi in Delhi recently. At the same time, senior Congress leaders from Tamil Nadu were also present in Rahul Gandhi’s office to discuss the strategy to be adopted in the coming days.
Rahul told them that the party is planning to hold protest rallies in front of all the Reserve Bank of India offices on January 18 against demonetisation.
However, the Tamil Nadu leaders requested him to postpone the agitation to January 20 in the wake of M G Ramachandran Birth Centenary celebrations on January 18.
While agreeing to their request, Rahul asked Chiranjeevi too to participate in the Tamil Nadu agitation. He also asked him to give proper direction to the party leaders in Tamil Nadu in the coming days.
The boss gave enough indications that Chiranjeevi would be sent to TN as party in-charge just like Digvijay Singh is for Andhra and Telangana. It is not immediately known what Chiranjeevi’s reaction was.
