Hyderabad: Politics has always been an alternative career option for South Indian stars. Their screen presence has always helped them garner massive support, and unlike their North Indian counterparts, they have managed to hold on to that support.
According to reports, comedian Dr Ali is the latest actor to join the political bandwagon.
As per reports, Ali supposedly met Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu. In the meeting, reports indicated, the comedian expressed his desire to enter politics. He also added that he wanted to contest in the upcoming elections from his home town of Rajahmundry.
Actor turned Politician Jayaprada is also trying hard to attain Congress MP ticket from Rajahmundry.
However, apparently, Naidu persuaded Ali to contest from Guntur, as Naidu though the latter would enjoy more support there.
If Ali does join Andhra politics, he will be latest in the ever-growing list of actors turning politicians in AP. From N T Rama Rao to Mallikarjuna Rao, Babu Mohan, AVS, Dharmavarapu Subramaniam, Kota Srinivas Rao, many have given politics a shot, and have succeeded. Similarly, neighbouring Tamil Nadu politics also has had its share of glamour, with the presence of heavyweight stars like the present CM Jayalalithaa, MGR, and Vijaykanth.
