Dattatreya to be appointed governor of a State

Bandaru-DattatreyaBJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya is likely to be appointed Governor of a State after reshuffle of Narendra Modi cabinet on Sunday.

According to informed sources, Dattatraya resigned from Union minister post and he will be one of the contenders for governor post as the Union government would have to fill vacant governor posts soon. Keeping his seniority and sincerity to the party, the party Central leadership was considering appointing Dattatraya as governor of a State just before 2019 polls to avoid a byelection for Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat which he was representing.

The Central leadership also reported to have sought resignation of Dattatraya, known as people’s man, may not give a tough fight against the TRS government in the State due to his age factor and offered him a governor post. Dattatraya is a lone BJP representative in the Narendra Modi government from Telangana State.

Sources said BJP national general secretary Murlidhar Rao and advisor to Water Resources Ministry Vedire Sriram Reddy may be inducted in the Modi cabinet as both Telugu speaking States have no representations presently in the Union cabinet. Both Murlidhar Rao and Sriram Reddy belong to Telangana State. Dattatraya was the only Telugu face in the Modi cabinet, who was Minister of State for Labour & Employment.

The sources also said BJP MP and senior leader from Andhra Pradesh Haribabu’s name was also doing rounds for Central ministership.
