Chandrababu has started an exercise to save TDP in Telangana after the process of bifurcation reached a definitive stage. As part of that exercise, Naidu has started patronizing backward castes of Telangana in recent days.
BC association leaders like R. Krishnaiah came calling on Naidu twice along with his supporters, within a matter of four days.
And in his recent meeting with BC leaders, Chandrababu Naidu promised that he will allot 100 out of 119 Assembly seats in Telangana. Naidu had already promised that a BC will be made Chief Minister if his party comes to power in future Telangana.
After the meeting, various BC association leaders vowed before media persons, that they will work hard to ensure the victory of TDP in Telangana.
Naidu has took out the BC card soon after the Parliament passed T Bill. But Errabelli believed that he is the face of the party in Telangana, apart from being the convener of Telangana TDP Forum.
Errabelli hoped that Naidu will make him the president of party unit in Telangana. He believed that notwithstanding a CM candidate coming from BC sections, he can run the show if he is made the president of party’s Telangana unit.
But soon after it emerged that Naidu is weighing the options of making a Dalit like Mothkupalli Narasimhulu or a Reddy leader like Revuri Prakash Reddy as the chief of Telangana TDP. Sensing trouble, Errabelli raised a sort of revolt with his letter to Naidu that he be relieved of his position as convener of TTDP Forum.
When he made it known to interlocutors from Naidu that he is unhappy about not announcing the separate TTDP unit in the party. TDP leaders Garikapati Mohan Rao, Revuri Prakash Reddy and Vem Narender Reddy convinced him that Naidu is thinking of setting up a five-member Coordination committee for Telangana.
Subsequently, Errabelli relented from his rebellious posture, but at the same time, kept him self away from TDP office and Naidu’s residence.
With all major parties including Congress in two minds over announcing separate party units before the actual bifurcation, TDP boss seems to be keeping his fingers crossed.
But a leader like Errabelli might not choose to wait for as long as Naidu wants him to.
