New Delhi: BJP leader of Visakhapatnam Kambhampati Haribabu has been appointed as the president of party’s Seemandhra unit. BJP national president Rajnath Singh has called K Haribabu to inform the decision to him and congratulated him.
Soon after the CWC decision in favour of bifurcating the state came about, Haribabu has been at the forefront of fighting for the rights of Seemandhra region. He had served as MLA of Visakhapatnam-1 in the past and is the seniormost leader of the party from the region. Haribabu is also a member of BJP Central committee and the state disciplinary committee.
With other parties like CPI (M) and Congress announcing separate chiefs for Telangana and Seemandhra, BJP found no reason to delay a similar announcement.
