Kavuri Sambasiva Rao to exit Congress today

Kavuri-Sambasiva-RaoEluru: if this senior leader leaves Congress, it simply indicates the bottom level to which the party has reached in Seemandhra region.

Six-time Congress MP and a now a minister in the UPA government Kavuri Sambasiva Rao is organizing a “meeting of well-wishers” in Eluru in order to discuss his political future.

He is likely to formally announce his exit from Congress after the meeting. This is quite expected, a Kavuri has already made public his disgust with the party leadership.

He is most likely to join TDP. But he has already made efforts to stand as an independent candidate by approaching leaders of TDP and BJP for their support. After the leaders of these two parties indicated his proposal was not feasible, Kavuri seems to have mentally prepared to join the TDP bandwagon, as is the trend now.

Even yesterday, he has given indications of his imminent exit from the party by not attending the Seemandhra PCC Election committee meeting, chaired by Congress state general secretary in-charge Digvijay Singh at Indira Bhavan. Reportedly, Kavuri has already informed Digvijay about his exit from the party.

But the worst may yet to come for Congress. Apart from Kavuri and Purandheshwari, two more union ministers are reportedly preparing to leave Congress, it is said.
