Kiran’s party candidate’s nomination rejected

cm-kiran-kumar-reddyHyderabad: Former Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy’s newly formed Jai Samaikyandhra Party has, since its inception, faced a number of issues.

But on Monday, it faced its most unique problem. One of its candidates, Vinod Kumar from Bhimili constituency had his nomination rejected because he was two days shy of being 25.

Several  nomination papers for the Assembly elections were rejected by the returning officers on Monday due to errors and not fulfilling the mandatory requirements. And, Vinod’s nomination was one among them. There were no errors in his nomination paper but he was found to be underage.

Contestants must not be less than twenty-five years of age on the date of scrutiny of nominations [Article 84(b) of the Constitution read with section 36(2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951).

Vinod’s nomination was cancelled after returning officer Subba Raju found that he was two days short of becoming 25. His dreams of becoming a politician thus, had to be put on hold.
