Hyderabad: News of Actor Pawan Kalyan joining the Telugu Desam Party has dominated the media for the past two days. A section of TDP leaders are strongly supporting the idea of bringing Pawan into the party, to reduce the growing popularity of Jr NTR. However another group, particularly youth-wing leaders predominantly belonging to the ‘Kamma’ community are fiercely opposing the entry of Pawan Kalyan. “How can you bring him into the party” they reportedly questioned the leadership.
Nara Lokesh has been very active in the party, holding discussions with key leaders and discussing party affairs, is said to be keen on bringing Pawan into the party. Chandrababu allegedly feared that if Jr NTR plays a key role in the party and dominates the political scene in TDP, it would put a big question mark on Lokesh’s political future, which is why Junior was kept away from the party. TDP also feared that Jr NTR may revolt against the leadership in future. In wake of this, many believe that latest rumours are being propagated deliberately to strengthen the party among ‘Kapu’ community.
So far, Pawan did not react on the news. But the question remains whether he would take the risk of joining ‘a sinking ship like TDP’. Many point out that his brother K Chiranjeevi did a big mistake by merging his erstwhile Praja Rajyam Party or PRP with Congress and lost his credibility and support among the general public. If Pawan joins TDP, what else he can expect, other than being just another leader in the party? As per Times of India report earlier, even Nandamuri Balakrishna is scared of his own win and was looking for a safe constituency for easy win.
Thus, once Pawan was used for strengthening the party, he may have to face the danger of being thrown out of the party as many say that it is the practice of the party leadership. In any case, Pawan’s entry into politics at this stage is creating ripples across the political and filmy domains!
