Jagan to move Supreme Court over Bifurcation
New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi has agreed to visit Telangana and meet the people there. She conveyed this to the Telangana Congress leaders on Friday evening, when they called on her at her 10, Janpath, here. Senior Telangana Congress leaders, who called on her to thank her profusely for the creation of Telangana State, extended the invitation to her to visit the region.
Gandhi advised the T Congress leaders that the people of both States should strive together to achieve progress as two Telugu-speaking States.
The AICC General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, Digvijay Singh, is expected to coordinate with the T Congress leaders and finalise the date for the visit of Sonia Gandhi to Telangana.
The senior leaders, who met Sonia Gandhi, included C Damodar Rajanarasimha, K Jana Reddy, V Hanumantha Rao, Md Shabbir Ali, C Uttam Kumar Reddy, D K Aruna, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, Geetha Reddy, K R Suresh Reddy, Palvai Govardhan Reddy, Shankar Rao, P Sudhakar Reddy and several other prominent leaders.
On the question of whether President’s Rule would be imposed in Andhra Pradesh, Jana Reddy said the Congress high command was studying the situation in the State. In a day or two, it would announce its decision.
Asked whether Congress was in a position to form government in the State, Rajanarasimha said the party had a majority.
Jana Reddy said that the Telangana Congress leaders were happy that the 60-year-old struggle had attained its goal. While Telangana State was created, efforts should also be made to do justice to the Seemandhra region. He said it was time to put behind the rancour of the past and work together.
