“Adirindhi”, the Telugu dubbed version of the actor’s latest film, “Mersal” released in the Telugu states this Thursday, and took a solid opening. Rs 3.5 crore gross on Day 1 for a dubbed film is very huge, especially considering he doesn’t have market here. Vijay is heard to be very happy with the reception his film got in AP and Telangana. Reports suggest that he may come here for promotions if the film holds up at box office.
And, going by the reliable trade reports, Adirindhi theatres have witnessed very good occupancy today as well. With no big film at box office except two other decent films – Vishal’s “Detective” and Sundeep Kishan’s “C/o Surya”, Adirindhi is expected to have a strong weekend.
If Adirindhi becomes a hit in Telugu, we can expect Vijay to try to release all his future films in Telugu simultaneously, like Surya and Karthi do.
