Reports have been doing the rounds that Malayalam actress Amala Paul was arrested in relation to a tax evasion case. Allegedly, the actress had purchased a luxury car in Puducherry with forged documents. But turns out, no such arrest has been recorded. As per reports on News Minute, the actress did appear before the Economic Offenses Wing to clarify a statement in the same tax evasion case. She was only called to clarify. The intention was to avoid an arrest. “We are trying to avoid arrest in the case and we have asked her regarding the discrepancies in her statement. No arrest has been recorded yet and a decision on whether to make an arrest will only be taken later,” stated an official as per reports on Times Of India.
As per news Minutes, the actress has stood by her previous statement that was mentioned in a petition. The car as documented was registered in Puducherry under a house she has rented out there. The house provided Rs 5500 as per reports. The vehicle was used in Puducherry, Bengaluru and Tamil Nadu.
It all started when a complaint was filed by the Transport Commissionerate. Basis this complaint a case was registered by the Thiruvananthapuram unit of the crime branch. The actress had even appeared before the court to to state that the case was false and that the documents were forged.
She was last seen in Thiruttu Payale 2, a sequel to a 2006 movie by the same name.
