Baahubali-2-Fails-to-beat-2After much anticipation, the trailer of the most awaited movie – Baahubali 2 was launched on March 16.  It was everything fans expected to be and lots more. The picturesque landscape, the intense war sequences, the much-loved characters – every aspect of the trailer was impressive. Although we were watching it on our desktops, mobile phones – the experience was surreal in every sense simply because it was made on a grand scale like SS Rajamouli, the director of Baahubali himself mentioned. It’s been six days and the trailer has clocked in 87.5 million views in 4 languages combined. The fact that the Hindi trailer contributed to 27M views is nothing short of phenomenal act. Part 2 , even before its release has already made a profit as part of its theatrical and distribution rights. But we have one surprising news. On the satellite rights front, there is another film that has managed to beat Baahubali 2! Yes believe or not,  there is one movie that has raked in a whopping amount as part of its satellite rights. But we aren’t surprised because this is a Rajinikanth movie we are talking. Yes the film in question is Shankar’s 2.0.

As per reports by Sreedhar Pillai, The satellite deal for Baahubali 2 has garnered a whopping Rs 78 crores out of which Hindi raked in Rs 50 Cr while the rest of the languages – Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam collected Rs 28 Cr. As for 2.0, it has earned Rs 110 crore! “It’s an unprecedented deal. The price of combined Indian satellite rights for the film for all the languages (Hindi, Tamil and Telugu) is Rs 110 crore. We are very happy to associate with Zee Network for the project,” stated the creative head of Lyca productions while speaking with PTI. Thalaiva was at it again!

After Baahubali, 2.0 is the most expensive films being made till date. Reportedly the budget is Rs 450 crore. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. While Baahubali will take over the first part of 2017, 2.0 will be the topic of discussion in the second half of 2017.
