Mostly on Saturday and Sunday these days, Telugu audiences are glueing to TV screens to catch up Nani on Big Boss 2. For last week’s episode eliminations, nearly 6 crores votes have been polled and that explains how this TV show is getting adored by audiences.
Some cinema observers, however, feel that lack of movies at the box office is making audiences prefer Big Boss than going to theatres. After the success of “Mahanati”, Tollywood hasn’t seen any other happening flick at the box office. Though some movies like Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi and RX100 are doing reasonably good, they are not solid blockbusters.
Had there been a Rangasthalam and Bharat Anu Nenu running in theatres, definitely the situation would be little different for Big Boss 2. Many people would have then watched the TV show on Hotstar rather on the small screen. But with no good movies, surely Nani is emerging as a winner with his new role.
But some opinion-holders beg to differ with this opinion as they feel that the merit likes in Nani’s talkative skills. As the natural star is making sure that he entertains them big time with his spontaneous comedy and also serious lecture-giving abilities, Big Boss 2 became a bigger hit than many films.
