Vijayendra Prasad, this senior Telugu film writer has been in the industry for a long time but he came into prominence only by penning the powerful blockbusters directed by his son SS Rajamouli. The success of ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ made him the most sought after writers in India. Despite this fame, Prasad yearns to prove himself as a director. Is he staking the glory brought by Baahubali for the sake of his directorial ambitions?
Prasad has earlier directed films such as Srikrishna 2006 and Rajanna but he couldn’t taste box office success. His latest directorial is ‘Sri Vallli’, an erotic science fiction thriller. The film’s shoot was wrapped up long ago and the audio and trailer were also unveiled. As the promos didn’t attract buyers, the film’s release was put on hold indefinitely.
The ‘Baahubali’ writer has now divulged that as Sri Valli had an all-new cast, he postponed the film earlier in order to release it after Baahubali 2. He is now planning to release the film in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil with the tag line, ‘A film directed by writer of Baahubali’. The ‘Baahubali’ factor may help the film grab a few eyeballs but the success depends on the content only.
Actually, Rajamouli wasn’t convinced with the story of Sri Valli but Prasad went on to direct it as he was confident. The film could either prove his directorial ability or dent his stardom achieved with Baahubali. Sri Valli is being planned for a June/July release.
