Anantapur: Ace comedian Brahmanandam was forced to beat a hasty retreat with the help of police, unable to face the pressure exerted by belligerent fans at Pathur Veerabrahmendra Swamy Temple, Raninagar. He had barely spent a minute on stage as the chief guest at the idol-installation ceremony organised by the district Vishwa Brahmana Association honorary president Guruprasad. Brahmanandam, who reached here from Hyderabad, had reached the stage with police help because of the presence of a large number of fans in the small temple.
After unveiling the idols of Govindmamba Sametha Veerabrahmendra Swamy, Srimat Kalika Devi and installation of Sri Nandeeswara Dhwaja Stambham, he experienced severe hardship, as fans tried to forcibly mount the stage.
The actor left without addressing the gathering. The disappointed fans resorted to vandalism, breaking plastic chairs. Police had a tough time trying to restrain them. They escorted Brahmanandam out of the town. Organisers Chandrasekhar, Achari, Brahmachari and Balachari said events like ‘Chandi Yagam’, ‘Vishnu Yagam’ would be organised in the temple till February 9.am
