Katamarayudu: Another Gabbar Singh or Teenmaar?


Katamarayudu-Nizam-rightsAs Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Katamarayudu’ is gearing up to release next week, fans are curious to find out how this remake would fare.

Pawan Kalyan is a creative person and he has always tried to do things differently. However, it is interesting to see that his 20-odd film career has significant number of remakes including Khushi, Gabbar Singh, Annavaram, Teenmaar and Suswagatham.

Not all remakes have worked for Pawan but the ones which worked, became record breaking blockbusters. The reason for the gigantic success of remakes like Khushi and Gabbar Singh is the able adaption to Telugu nativity.

After learning that Katamarayudu was a remake of Tamil film ‘Veeram’, at initial stage people didn’t have many expectations on it, but after release of Katamarayudu Teaser the expectations reaches high. Remakes these days are not working as they once used to be. However, if a filmmaker manages to make the adapt a film instead of presenting as it is, there is a good chance of scoring a hit. Makers of Katamarayudu have said that they have taken only the core subject of Veeram and the screenplay will be completely new.

The promos, Pawan’s look and the teaser have managed to raise expectations on this remake. We however need to wait until March 24 to know if Katamarayudu falls in the category of Gabbar Singh or Teenmaar.
