Ever since he commenced his most ambitious film Rudramadevi 3 years ago, director cum producer Gunasekhar has been facing numerous financial hardships. At one stage, the film’s shooting was even stalled temporarily due to lack of funds.
But Gunasekhar managed to complete the film by running pillar to post and the film is all set for a gigantic release tonight. But, just a day before the film’s release, Telangana CM KCR thrilled the Rudramadevi unit with his special gesture.
Just a while ago, KCR gave his permission to declare entertainment tax exemption for Rudramadevi. It is well known that Rudramadevi was a warrior queen of Kakatiya Kingdom and the historical glimpses of the erstwhile Kakatiya Empire are still found in Warangal and other Telangana regions.
This new move by KCR means that Rudramadevi is exempted from paying the 15% entertainment tax from its revenue collected from the theatrical exhibition in Telangana region. Will the AP CM Chandrababu Naidu follow suit and encourage a film that glorifies Telugu history?
