Over the past few years, the North American market has become a stronghold of several top stars like Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan, Allu Arjun and even the directors like Rajamouli, Trivikram Srinivas and Sreenu Vaitla etc. Films of these stars easily earn anywhere between $1.5 million to $7 million.
However, with the debacle of Ram Charan’s high-budget spectacle Bruce Lee, the overseas buyers have given a strict warning to top Tollywood producers. Incidentally, Bruce Lee had its first ever premiere at Prasads in Hyderabad, even before the US premieres. Negative talk spread rampantly online while the film’s screening was going on.
This caused a huge dent in the collections of American premieres, with the film collecting dismal figures through premiere shows even though the tickets were priced as high as $20 or plus. The film failed to survive the poor talk from the day one, causing huge losses to the overseas distributors who bought the film at a high rate.
Apparently, this prompted all the overseas buyers to team up and strictly warn the Tollywood producers to stop premiering their films in India before the US premieres and even threatened them saying that they will not buy their films in the future if this demand is not respected during the film’s releases.
