Priyanka Chopra is someone who needs no introduction. From being among the leading ladies of Bollywood to exploring regional cinema to making a successful career in Hollywood, Priyanka has achieved fame and name on her own merits. But all the success didn’t come to her easily. Being an outsider, PeeCee to has had her own share of struggles but she says she “cried and got over it”. Did you know that the actress got kicked out of a film because someone else’s name was recommended for it? Well, in an interview with mid – day, Priyanka joins the nepotism debate where she was asked about how she feels about Bollywood where most of the actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh arr all self – made stars.
Sharing her experience of being an outsider in the industry, she says, “All kinds exist. There is nothing wrong in being born into a family that has a legacy. Outsiders don’t have a foot-in-the-door access. Starkids have insurmountable pressure of living upto the family name. every star has their individual journey. In mine, I have faced a lot. I have been kicked out of films because someone else was recommended to the producer. I cried and got over it. Eventually, those who are meant to be success stories become that, despite all hindrances.” Now those are precious words are wisdom coming from someone who has conquered the world!
Yes, nepotism does exist in Bollywood and elsewhere too but it is upon us to make something fruitful out of our lives and careers. Priyanka has striven real hard to be in the place she is in today. Kudos to you PeeCee! You go girl!
