Rangasthalam – India’s Choice For Oscars: Pawan Kalyan

Pawan Kalyan was the chief guest for ‘Rangasthalam’ Success Meet held in Hyderabad on Friday night. First of all, He began his speech thanking Sukumar, Producers, Cast & Crew for making a landmark movie. ‘I didn’t watch many of my films completely. I just went to theatre once after becoming an Actor€that’s for Tholi Prema in Sandhya theatre. Even that film had been watched by me only till Interval. After many years, I got the strong desire of watching a movie in the theatre. When everybody has been speaking about Charan’s performance and the kind of ratings the film received made Me happy and proud. Even in IMDB, Rating for ‘Rangasthalam’ surpassed ‘Godfather’,’ he said.

The Actor-turned-Politician said he felt like being in a village named Rangasthalam while watching the movie. ‘I didn’t feel it’s just a movie..It’s life. If such a film close to reality become a hit, It will be an inspiration to many people,’ he opined.

An interesting incident which happened between him and Sukumar almost a decade ago was shared by Pawan Kalyan – ‘Sukumar came to narrate a story to Me. I was in some other mood then€didn’t respond positively. We thought of meeting again later. Though I didn’t get an opportunity to act, I like him very much as a director since ‘Arya’. He is a Director who know the pulse of youth, a great writer and makes movies close to reality. Whenever I visited Annayya’s home in the past one year, Charan used to appear wearing dirty clothes. I lacked the courage to do something like that! Charan was brought-up in City since childhood. What you see in Rangasthalam is the same Charan in real life€amazing performer, a complete actor’.

PK shared a funny incident with Anasuya – ‘After the premiere, Anasuya shook hands with Me€I didn’t recognize her. Then, She told Me that Rangamma Atha role was played by her in the movie. Then, I watched her face again and realized it’.

Pawan Kalyan claimed he knew Jagapathi Babu since the time he decided to become an actor – ‘JB came to seek Annayya’s blessings before entering films. After retiring as hero, President role is one of the best characters he has done’.

Jana Sena Chief lauded the performance of Aadi Pinisetty as Kumar Babu. He added, ‘Just when people are assuming she mayn’t act anymore after marriage, Samantha shattered all the myths with her brilliant performance. Jabardast Actors did a terrific job. I always felt a cameraman like Rathnavelu would have made Tholi Prema look much better. Art Director and Costumer Designers have done a great job. I firmly believe this movie has to be India’s pick for Oscars. It’s like doing injustice if such a film wasn’t recommended for Academy Awards. As a failed Writer, I am saying it’s never easy to make such a movie. TFI should back Rangasthalam just alike it did for Baahubali. There might be political differences but Telugu Film Industry is always one. Chitti Babu is like My Younger Brother. My Brother & Sister-in-Law are like parents. Charan should achieve more success why because he always remained very balanced irrespective of success and failure. That’s why I like him a lot. Such a person will achieve more success€this is just a beginning. Jai Hind!’.
