The accusations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has created several ripples in media and the infamous ‘golden casting couch’ statue, representing the misconduct of Hollywood producer, was also showcased at Oscar2018 event. In view of growing accusations, the popular producer was left uninvited for the Oscar show.

Now, in a fresh development, Weinstein’s lawyer stated that a woman (actress) having sex with a producer to advance in her career cannot be considered as ‘rape’.

In his interview to a British daily, Harvey’s advocate Ben Brafman said – ‘If a woman decides that she needs to have sex with a Hollywood producer to advance her career and actually does it and finds the whole thing offensive, that’s not rape.’ Accused of sexual harassment by more than 100 Hollywood women, Harvey Weinstein was investigated by both British and US Police no charge was framed against him.

Brafman also said that his client’s (Harvey Weinstein) behavior was reflective of the broader culture in the Hollywood industry: “The casting couch in Hollywood was not invented by Harvey Weinstein.” The most popular list of actresses who responded against the misbehavior of Harvey include Salma Hayek, Ashley Judd, Kate Beckinsale and others.
