Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Veere Di Wedding’ had a great weekend with a sum of number which is well above the expectations that anybody could have had for the film. ‘Veere Di Wedding’ has successfully broken the myth that the film with four female actors do not fetch good numbers at box-office.
On the opening day, the film took a fantastic start at the box office with Rs 10.70 crore and on the second day too, ‘Veere Di Wedding’ showed an upward trend with Rs 12.25 crore of business. The Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor production has collected Rs 36.52 crore in its opening weekend.
Noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box-office numbers saying, “#VeereDiWedding pulls a BIG SURPRISE… Packs a FANTASTIC TOTAL in its opening weekend… North circuits in particular are ROCKING… Storms into Top 5 opening weekends of 2018… Fri 10.70 cr, Sat 12.25 cr, Sun 13.57 cr. Total: ₹ 36.52 cr. India biz.”
Deccan Chronicle critic Rohit Bhatnagar gave average rating to the film, as he wrote: “what comes out jarring is the director’s attempt to define the modern woman with these attributes alone. Surely these talented women could have been given a better plot, a panoply of substance where they can hammer out their joys, their fears, their grievances? And send out a message to others on how not to be anything, including apologetic.”
With no major Hindi releases next week, ‘Veere Di Wedding’ is likely to do good business even in coming days until Salman Khan’s ‘Race 3’ hit the screens on June 15.
