HTC announced the ChaCha smartphone in August 2011. It decided to take up a new path and launched this QWERTY keypad handset. It is the brand’s first and only candy bar smartphone. It is also called the Facebook phone as it is highly integrated with the social network. HTC is also reported to launch a Facebook phone in 2012.
During its launch, the handset was priced at Rs 15,000 and then it was reduced to Rs 12,500. If you are looking forward to have a budget Android smartphone, you can get the HTC ChaCha that is available for a price in India of Rs 9,699 from Saholic.com. The online retailer is offering the handset at a discount of Rs 3,000 approximately.
Though the handset didn’t play well as expected, it offered a reasonable performance. It was expected to create a great impact with its UI and the Facebook button. Unfortunately, it was not a fruitful product for the company as it could not compete with the large touchscreen devices. This could have been one of the reasons for the official price reduction.
If you are interested in getting this smartphone at a discount price, here are its basic specifications. HTC ChaCha runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and HTC Sense UI v2.1. It is equipped with an 800 MHz processor and 512 MB RAM. It sports a 2.6 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 480 x 320 pixel resolution. It has a 5 MP rear camera and a front facing VGA camera.
