5 noble ways to welcome the New Year

Happy_New_YearBe the change you want to see in the world- Mahatma Gandhi

At a time when innocent children are being butchered, men beheaded and women sold as sex slaves, the global community can collectively pray and contribute in their own little way in making the world a better place to live.

We may not be in a position to feel their immeasurable grief, but can certainly be instrumental in bringing about a smile on someone’s face, who is earnestly in need of love and compassion.

2014 is on the verge of bidding us goodbye and we are gearing up to welcome a brand New Year – 2015. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could ring in the New Year in a way that can bring joy to a few others and thereby a give a new meaning to our celebrations?

Here’s taking a look at 5 noble ways to celebrate New Year:

Visit a shelter for the old

Parents who are often abandoned by their children find shelter in oldage homes. They pretend to be happy and cheerful but deep inside their hearts, they long for their children. By paying a visit to a shelter for the old this New Year, you can make a few old people happy. All they need is love.

Visit an orphanage

Just like children who abandon their old parents, many young parents abandon their kids. Such innocent children are put up at orphanages. They look for compassionate arms that can embrace them, give them unconditional love and bless them. Try visiting an orphanage. You may end up being the reason of happiness to many. Make their childhood enjoyable.

Visit shelter for animals

We humans often treat other living beings as inferior. We don’t treat them with respect. This New Year, by visiting a shelter for animals, you can make some of the mute beings happy. They can’t speak but can certainly understand the language of love and compassion. Spread joy around. They too deserve it.

Donate

You may buy new stuff when you feel your belongings have turned old. Instead of simply throwing away, donate them. You never know they might be of some use to someone. You can donate clothes, toys, bedspreads, books, food and even blood.

Make sure, the things that you have set aside for donation are in usable condition.

Clean your surrounding and plant trees

Service to Mother Nature is service to the future of all forms of lives on earth. Clean up your surroundings, get rid of the garbage and rehabilitate the area by planting trees. Cleanliness will prevent diseases and more plants mean more oxygen.
