Baahubali has been a phenomenal success and it has brought good profits to producers Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni. But, imagine the pressure on them when they had started this mammoth project five years ago, without knowing how much they would have to invest by the end and how much they could recover? At some point, they, at least their well-wishers, might have considered Baahubali project a potential risk.
Now, it seems that the producers of Baahubali are about to take a bigger risk than Baahubali. As per reports, Shobu and Prasad are going to splurge as much as Rs 40 crore on a film starring Sharwanand as hero. Considering the film is a socio-fantasy involving graphics work, the budget may go up in the process of completing the film.
Sharwanand is a hero with Rs 20 crore market but the investment here is double to his potential. The producers should have at least roped in a proven director to justify the high budget. But, the man to helm this high budget film is K Raghavendra Rao’s son, Prakash Kovelamudi, who has so far directed two disasters – “Anaganaga O Dheerudu” and “Size Zero”.
Prakash’s debut film “Anaganaga O Dheerudu” was in fact a socio-fantasy, which became one of the biggest disasters of this decade. Well, here comes another jolt, the story for this Rs 40 crore venture is being provided by Prakash’s wife, Kanika Dhillon, who penned the disastrous ‘Size Zero’.
Shobhu and Prasad may have given this big opportunity to Prakash as a gesture of gratitude to Raghavendra Rao, who has been their pillar of strength since their struggling days in TV to the happening of Baahubali. Have they taken too big a risk in order to pay gratitude?
