Barely a week after the robbery in Tanishq jewellery, Rs 40 lakh cash was robbed from State Bank of India at the Choppadandi branch in Karimnagar district on Saturday. Police said that four unidentified robbers in masked faces moved into the branch and snatched a huge amount of Rs 40 lakh from the head cashier on gun point.
After bundling the staffers into one corner, they approached the counter. “They took whatever cash was available at the counter. After stuffing it in a bag, they left,” an eyewitness said.
A robbery case has been registered at Choppadandi police station. Police are verifying the bank CCTV footage. The police said that all the stations in and around were alerted and patrol on all roads intensified after they were informed about the robbery.
