New Delhi: The Anti-Corruption Bureau of Delhi government has registered an FIR on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s complaint on gas pricing. No individual has been named in the FIR even as Kejriwal’s complaint mentions Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Union Minister Murli Deora and Verappa Moily.
The FIR has been registered under sections dealing with criminal conspiracy, cheating and other sections of the Prevention Of Corruption Act.
This came after Kejriwal ordered an FIR against Ambani as well as Union Ministers Veerappa Moily and Murli Deora. Kejriwal had accused the Government of India of colluding with Reliance Industries Limited and increasing the price of gas from $4.2 per million British Thermal Unit to $8. The matter incidentally is in court, but that doesn’t stop Kejriwal from taking on the corporate houses and politicians.
Kejriwal had also said that he will write to the Prime Minister for probe into the case and will ask him to take back gas wells from RIL. “I will write letters to the Prime Minister and Veerappa Moily to look into the matter. The central government should take back gas wells from RIL,” he said.
The Delhi government had said it acted on a complaint by four people – former Cabinet Secretary TSR Subramanian, former IAS officer EAS Sarma, noted Supreme Court lawyer Kamini Jaiswal and retired Navy Chief Admiral RH Tahliani.
Reliance Industries Limited threatened to take the Aam Aadmi Party government to court over its allegations on gas pricing. “The complaint and each of the allegations on the basis of which the Delhi government has taken such action are completely baseless and devoid of any merit or substance whatsoever. We deny these irresponsible allegations and propose to resort to the available legal remedies to protect our reputation and preserve the pioneering efforts and investments made by Reliance so far,” RIL said in a statement.
