Hyderabad: Bahujan Samaj Forum and other organizations celebrated Beef Festival at Osmania University in which Prof. Kancha Iliah and Mr. Syed Aziz Pasha, former CPI MP of Rajya Sabha participated as Special Guests. On this occasion the message “Defeat Killer Modi” was propagated. A large number of people participated in the Beef Festival and termed it as a basic liberty.
Prof. Kancha Iliah, in his speech bitterly criticized Narindra Modi saying that he should know that tea has been imported from Iran. Mr. Syed Aziz Pasha proved by citing the references from the documents of Planning Commission that the propaganda of the development of Gujrath is based on false statistics.
Mr. Aziz Pasha further told that Gujrat was already a developed state before Modi became the CM. Gujrat owes its development to the efforts of industrialist of the state and not to be efforts of Mr. Modi. Still there are backward areas in Gujrat were basic amenities are not available to the people.
It may be noted that the students of Osmania University had celebrated Beef festival last year also against the opposition of higher caste students of the University. The students belonging to backward classes demanded the hostel authorities to supply food consisting of beef in hostels. The program was organized last year by Prof. Kancha Illiah of the Dept. of Political Science and Mr. Mohammed Ansari of the Dept. of Linguistic of Osmania University. It was a grand success and it was appreciated by all. On the occasion of beef festival held last year a student belonging to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) was stabbed and he was injured seriously. The clashes broke out on Sunday night last year after some Dalit and left-wing student groups organised a beef festival on the campus, to highlight their demand for including beef in the hostel menu. Over 200 students and some professors attended the festival and ate various dishes made of beef.
The beef festival was organised by Telangana Students Association, Progressive Democratic Student Union, Student Federation of India and student groups from English and Foreign Languages University last year which was a grand success.
