Delhi gangrape: SC stays execution of 2 convicts till March 31

Delhi-gangrapeNew Delhi: In a new twist in the Delhi gangrape case, the Supreme Court on Saturday stayed the execution of two convicts, Pawan and Mukesh, till March 31.

Pawan and Mukesh had moved the apex court challenging their conviction and death sentence a short while ago.

The SC order comes just days after the Delhi High Court upheld the death sentences of all the convicts in the December 16 gangrape case.

The six were convicted of gang-raping a 23-year-old woman inside a moving bus on December 16, 2012.

The woman succumbed to her injuries a fortnight later.

One of the six accused was found dead in his jail cell later. Another accused was a juvenile at the time of the crime and was sent to a reform home for three years, the maximum term under the juvenile law
