New Delhi: The festival season is over, but there is still no sign of vegetable prices coming down. After onions, now tomatoes have become too expensive to handle. Prices have shot up to Rs 70 and 80 per kg in Delhi and Chandigarh.
In other cities the prices are hovering in the range of Rs 50 and 60 per kg. In Delhi, onion prices haven’t fallen as promised and are still at Rs 80 per kg.
Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar had promised that prices would come down soon after Diwali. On October 25, Food Minister KV Thomas had promised a fall in prices in 10 days. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit too had promised a drop in prices.
