IIT Mumbai has come out with its innovative approach of designing Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) ‘Daksh’. The Army acquired its first mobile robot – which will equip the force to handle and clear improvised explosives devices and other hazardous objects. Daksh’ can also come handy for anti-terrorist operations in addition to the battlefield exigencies. This will be an invaluable asset for the bomb disposal units of the Army, It is also capable of towing a suspected vehicle away from a crowded area. As It is always challenging task for the security personnel to operate in confined spaces, so Daksh robot can be used for detection and defuse IEDs, reducing the direct involvement of the personnel.
