Indian plane catches fire at Kathmandu


Indigo-AirlinesKATHMANDU, MAR 08 – An aircraft of Indigo Airlines caught fire on the rear landing gear shortly after landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on Saturday afternoon.

The Airbus A320 plane with 174 persons on board was taxiing at the tarmac when the right landing gear suddenly caught fire . General Manager of TIA Rishikesh Sharma said that the fire was immediately doused with the help of a fire engine at the airport.

All the passengers were safely evacuated from the plane following the fire .

The plane had arrived from New Delhi.

The reason behind the fire remains to be ascertained.
