Jharkhand govt provided govt job to Bokaro acid attack survivor

Sonali-MukharjeeRanchi: Sonali Mukharjee, the acid attack survivor from Bokaro finally got the government job she was promised by Jharkhand government.

It was after media had highlighted her plight and initiated a campaign, that help started pouring in for Sonali. But justice still eludes her with her perpetrators still roaming scot-free.

Elated on getting a government job, Sonali said, “I am very happy that I got this job. I want government to help other acid attack victims too in way that it instils confidence in them. So that they do not end up becoming a burden for their families.”

Sonali was attacked with acid in 2003 after she spurned the advances of three men in her neighbourhood in her village in Dhanbad in Jharkhand.

Disheartened with not getting justice and medical help, Sonali had even demanded euthanasia. Her family was also finding it difficult to cope with her medical bills. “Either give me justice or let me die,” had said the young girl.
