NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the vandalism of statues in Tripura, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. He warned stringent action against those involved in such incidents.

After PM spoke with Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Ministry directed all the State Government to take stern action against vandalism of statues.

Two Days ago, Two Statues of Lenin were vandalised in Tripura where BJP was voted to power last week. Subsequently, The statue of Tamil icon EV Ramasamy Periyar was vandalised in Tamil Nadu. And then, The statue of BJP icon Syama Prasad Mookerjee was blackened in West Bengal. A petrol bomb was thrown at a BJP Office in Coimbatore by three bikers on Wednesday morning. Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned Today over protests on these incidents.

H Raja, BJP Leader in Tamil Nadu, placed a Facebook post questioning the existence of Lenin and Periyar statues: ‘Who is Lenin and what is the connection between Lenin and India? What connection has India with Communists? Lenin’s statue has been removed in Tripura. Today it is Lenin’s statue in Tripura, tomorrow it will be the statue of caste fanatic EV Ramasamy’. After receiving backlash, H Raja deleted the post and told he have no intention to hurt anyone.

BJP Chief Amit Shah spoke to party units in Tripura and Tamil Nadu. He warned any person associated with BJP involving in destroying statues will face severe consequences.
