Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi had a narrow escape on Thursday night when the brakes of the vehicle in which he was travelling failed near Nirmal in Adilabad district. According to sources, the brakes of his vehicle failed when the driver tried to stop at Sufi Nagar toll plaza. The brake rod broke when the driver applied the brakes, said a source travelling with the leader’s convoy. The mishap occurred around midnight when the AIMIM leader was returning to the city after addressing a public meeting at Adilabad as part of the party’s campaign for the municipal elections.
“The driver lost his nerve when the vehicle slid out of control,” said the source adding that the driver could manage to manoeuvre the vehicle from the space between two barrels kept near the toll plaza and steered the vehicle safely. Later, the leader continued his journey in another vehicle of his convoy.
