A local Pashto singer was shot dead by unknown gunmen in this northwestern Pakistani city today, police said.
Wazir Khan Afridi was killed when gunmen opened indiscriminate firing in the Faqir Killay area, suburban locality in Peshawar.
Afridi was a renowned singer from the Khyber Agency.
Earlier there were reports that the singer was facing threats from militants who were asking him to stop singing.
Afridi had claimed that he had been abducted three times from Peshawar and was freed each time on the condition that he would not sing anymore, the reports said.
