However, according to Kanchi Mutt sources, the head of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham died after he was found unconscious in a bathroom. All efforts by his peronal aides to resuscitate him proved futile.

According to a team of doctors, under the supervision of NTR University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor T Ravi Raju, the cause of death cannot be ascertained until autopsy report is released.
On Sunday, Jayendra Saraswati’s blood sugar and sodium levels dropped significantly, rendering him very weak. A personal physician also came down from Chennai to attend on the seer.

The Kanchi seer had been camping in Vijayawada for the last few days, conducting the Chaturmasya Vratam, a four-month religious ritual. He was expected to stay in ashram till September 16 after the ‘Vratam’.
