Lady Amitabh and once Telangana fire brand Vijayashanti seems to have shifted her political base to Tamil Nadu from Telangana. Her active role in the by – election to RK Nagar Assembly by election necessitated after the death of former Chief minister Jayalalithaa gave a strong indication that the film star is keen to revive her political fortunes in Tamil Nadu.
Vijayashanti has been maintaining distance from the active politics ever since she lost 2014 Assembly elections in Telangana. She contested as Congress candidate but lost the election. From then on wards, she had been staying away from active politics. Earlier she was second in command in TRS. Before that, she floated Telangana Talli party which was merged with TRS. She started political career in BJP
At present, Vijayashanti is busy participating in by poll campaign in RK Nagar constituency in support of AIADAMK candidate Dinakaran. She is campaigning in mainly Telugu people concentrated areas Sastry Nagar, Kamaraju Nagar and Korukkupeta wards.
Leaders said vijayashanti’s election campaign is drawing good response from all sections of people. Her charisma is helping the party to draw huge crowds in public meetings.
After the death of Jayalalitha, Vijayashanti extended her support to Shashikala who took the party cudgels in Tamil Nadu. But she was landed behind bars in connection of disproportionate assets cases. Speculations are doing rounds that Vijayashanti may join AIADAMK soon and take an important role in the party.
