Vijayawada-Guntur region was most suitable for new capital

vijayawada-gunturHyderabad: Former member of Rajya Sabha and farmers’ leader Yalamanchili Shivaji on Monday felt that Vijayawada-Guntur area was most suitable place for new capital of residual Andhra Pradesh State.

Speaking to the media here, Shivaji said there is a lot of open space and buildings in the Nagarjuna University at Mangalagiri located between Vijayawada and Guntur and it will be suitable for locating Secretariat and Assembly building for residual Andhra Pradesh. Nagarjuna University could be shifted to Ongole PG College, he added. The area between Vijayawada and Guntur should be declared as non-industrial zone, he demanded.

Shivaji opined that it was not correct to think that capital of Seemandhra must be similar to Hyderabad. Concentration of all institutions, industries and educational institutions in a single place was not correct, he felt and suggested that all the 13 districts of the Seemandhra region should be developed equally.
