Mr Pellikoduku is one of the much-hyped and most-awaited Telugu films in 2013. Directed by Devi Prasad, the film features Sunil and Isha Chawla in the lead roles. It is an official remake of Madhavan’s 2011 Hindi film Tanu Weds Manu, which has become big hit at the Box Office. The success of the Bollywood film has soared up the curiosity of its Telugu version to sky high.
Director Devi Prasad himself has adopted the story of Tanu Weds Manu to Telugu. The movie revolves around the story of a guy, who has settled in a foreign country and wants to marry an Indian girl. The movie has lot of comic moments and the role of the hero will be a tailor role for Sunil.
The story of Mr Pellikoduku opens with the hero, who is working at a company in foreign, returning to his motherland to see a girl. He falls for her at first sight, but she shocks him with the news that she already has a boyfriend and plans to marry him. He informs the same to his parents, who set about to see other girls for him. However, he is deeply in love with her and wants to marry her.
How he wins her heart will form the rest of the story. Sunil and Isha Chawla are seen playing the lead roles which were originally played by R Madhavan and Kangna Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu. Vincent, Ali, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, LB Sriram, Ahuti Prasad, Ravi Babu, MS Narayana, Tulasi, Archana, Usha Sri, Bhavana are essaying other supporting roles.
Sunil’s performance is going to be one of the main highlights. He is going to rock the viewers with his perfect comedy timing. He also flaunts his six-pack body in a song sequence.
Isha Chawla, who has earlier worked with Sunil, has got good scope for her role in Mr Pellikoduku. Her chemistry with Sunil is going to be one of the highlights of the film.
Others like Ali, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam and MS Narayana will tickle your funny bones.
SA Rajkumar’s music is also going to be another highlight in the movie Mr Pellikoduku. He has scored five songs for the film and few of them have already won the heart of the music lovers.Sameer Reddy’s

Overall plot of the film
Forced punches in dialogues
Mr Pellikoduku as we all know is a remake of the Hindi film Tanu Weds Manu. The original itself had a weak second half but the film was held together by some solid performances by the lead cast. In the remake the lead cast for those roles are clearly aren’t of the same caliber which is a major set back for the film.
Now added to that the director chooses to adapt the film to local sensitivity by adding lots of comedy. This works in a temporary stop gap fashion in the first half but when ever the actual content from the original comes, the remake falls flat.
In the second half the cushion of the comedy is completely gone and the remake had to follow the original script. This is where the film completely falls apart as performances are very weak. Add to that the cliched, predictable and terrible dialogues one feels completely restless in this half. The climax is done in a very predictable manner.
Music and background score by SA Rajkumar is the biggest negative for the film, especially the background score is one of the worst in recent times to put it politely.
Cinematography is good but the editing is poor especially in the first half of the film.
Bottom-line: Mr.Pellikoduku is one big predictable and boring film. TeluguNow.com Rating: 2.25/5
