Raja Rani is a Tamil dubbed romantic comedy film directed by Atlee, who previously worked with director Shankar as an assistant in Robo and Snehithudu. This film is produced by AR Murugadoss on Fox Star Studios banner, the film features Arya and Nayantara in the lead roles while Jai, Nazriya Nazim, Santhanam and Sathyaraj appear in supporting roles. Let’s talk about the detail story.
The story begins with a lovely Christian wedding between John and Regina (Arya and Nayanthara) where the two marry against their wishes just to quiet down their parents. After this marriage the story shifted to the flashback, in the flash back we can see a couple of love stories – one involving John and Keerthana (Nazriya) and the other between Regina and Suriya (Jai). The bad luck stay around with their back, the two affairs don’t reach with a happy end. And, John and Regina end up marrying. They don’t see eye-to-eye and after they confess about their past, they seem to be edging closer, but ego comes in between them. Comedian Santhanam who plays a key role as John (Arya) friend. His consistency as a comedian, movie after movie is terrific and he also proves that he can shine as an ‘actor’. Finally, what happen to John and Regina’s relation? Do they live happily? for all this questions you should watch the movie on big screen.
Nayanthara steals the show with her performance.
Jai has also done an excellent job.
Comedian Santhanam who plays a friend to Arya, his performance is terrific.
Atlee’s maiden attempt at film-making is good.
Songs are a big minus to this movie.
After a peppy and interesting first half, the second half is a bit slow.
It looks like the narration lacks the punch as many scenes feel stretched.
Overall, ‘Raja Rani’ has the decent story for a colorful entertainer. However, if you are prepared for a slow second half, then “Raja Rani” is definitely worth a watch for its peppy comedy and sizzling chemistry between the lead pair.
