Superstar Mahesh Babu and A R Murugadoss’s much-awaited spy thriller, SPYder has hit the screens worldwide today. Let’s see how it is.
Siva (Mahesh Babu) is an employee who works in illegal call tapping department for the safety of people in Intelligence Bureau. He enjoys his work so much and one day he hears a conversation between two girls and he sends and lady police who is his friend to guard the house of the girl. The next day city wakes up with the brutal murder of these two by a unknown guy who cuts all their body parts and mixes and makes it very difficult to figure out them. Siva who is deeply affected by this goes on hunt for the criminal and finds him as Bhairavudu (SJ Suryah). Rest of the story is how he nabs him.
Cast and Performance:
Mahesh Babu is superb in his role as an employee of Intelligence Bureau and he emotes well in emotional sequences. His looks are additional attraction for the role he played. Rakul Preet Singh is good but her role is very limited and has nothing much to do. Priyadarshi, RJ Balaji, Krishna are nice in their roles as Siva friends. S J Suryah is terrific in his role as a psycho who enjoys the cry of others. He did complete justice to his role with his expressions and body language. Bharath is nice in his small role. All other actors did good job in their respective roles.
Mahesh Babu as Siva
SJ Suryah as Bhairavudu
Cinematography by Santosh Shivan
Editing work by A Sreekar Prasad is good. Cinematography by top-notch technician Santosh Sivan is okay. Music by Harris Jayraj is below par. Production Values for this high budget entertainer are very rich and on high standards.
Coming to the director Murugadoss, he has done a decent job with the film. Even though he has picked up a routine story, the way he has narrated it clicks with Spyder. He adds good racy elements during the first half but slightly dips in his execution during the later part. Had he made the film crisp and decreased the runtime a bit, the effect would have been even better.
On the whole, Spyder is a decent action thriller which has some very interesting moments throughout. Mahesh Babu’s rocking performance and Surya’s menacing act will surely impress you big time. But as the film has a routine and serious storyline, the class audience will lap it up big time but the mass audience might find it a bit difficult to digest. If you are okay with the above-said things, then Spyder will surely entertain you this weekend.
