The late Chief Minister YSR’s daughter, Sharmila, will kick start her 3000-km marathon walkathon in all the three regions of the state from October 18 in a bid to rebuild and refurbish the image of the YSR Congress party and prepare it for the 2014 electoral battle.
In tune with the present trend of the political parties to be in limelight and attract the electorate by launching padayatras, the YSR Congress too not to lag behind other parties had planned one such padayatra by the party chief and Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
However with the Supreme Court putting the spanner in the wheel by rejecting Jagan’s bail petition recently, his party’s think tank felt the need for going ahead with the padayatra in order to infuse the required confidence in the cadre and keep their stock intact. Also keeping in view Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy’s ongoing Indiramma bata and TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vastunna meekosam padayatra, the YSR Congress seemed to have felt the imperative need for organizing its own padayatra keep alive its electoral chances alive among the masses.
Accordingly the burden to launch the padayatra had fallen on the shoulders of Sharmila, the charismatic star campaigner of the party, who had played a pivotal role in the success of the party nominees in the by-elections to 18 Assembly seats. The honorary President of the YSR Congress, Y S. Vijayamma accompanied by her daughter-in-law Bharathi called on her son Jagan who is cooling his heels in Chanchalguda Jail and discussed about the proposed Maha Prasthanam padayatra by Sharmila.
The political affairs committee of the met and discussed the details and other aspects of the programme. As per the plans worked out Sharmila would launch her walkathon on October 18 from Idupulapalaya to Itchapuram, distance of 3000 kms.
