It had set cash registers ringing at the box-office in 1990 owing to the crackling onscreen chemistry between Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit Nene, and now, after more than two decades, Dil, directed by Indra Kumar, may be set for a remake.
An industry source reveals that Kumar is going to helm the remake as well. “Indra has started working on a script, keeping Dil in mind. It might not be a continuation of the original film, but will have a strong reference to it,” says the source.
Apparently, the makers are looking at a story, which is relevant in today’s times. “Indra is planning to make the film with actors from the newer lot, but he might retain some of the character artistes of the original film,” reveals the source, adding, “The music of the original was a big hit, so he wants the new film to have good music.”
Currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming Rekha-starrer, when contacted, Indra refrained from revealing much. “At the moment, I am busy with the release of my film, and would start planning and working on other things only after that. So can’t say anything now,” he said.
