Deepika Padukone’s recent outing ‘Chhappak’ which is in theatres now is getting a positive talk from every corner of the country. Making a film on an acid attack survivor can be very risky as it may get overdramatic and tragedy filled. But director Meghana Gulzar was successful in keeping things as subtle and as realistic as possible. Though the proceedings may look slow, the heart touching scenes connects with you the most.
Despite the directorial brilliance, it is Deepika Padukone’s award-worthy performance that deserves all the applause. She attempted a deglamorized for the first time and she pulled it off with panache. Deepika’s acting prowess is what took the film to the next level in an otherwise slow film.
The film deals such a sensitive plot about the life of an acid attack victim in the most convincing way possible. The entire team deserves special applause for their belief and guts to attempt such a socially responsible film with zero commercial elements.
