India-born Rajeev Suri to be next Nokia CEO

New Delhi: Finnish handset major Nokia will name Rajeev Suri as its next CEO next week at the same time as the company announces its first-quarter results, as per a news wire report.

India-born Suri, 46, has long been touted to be the top-runner for the post. He has been significant in turning Nokia’s network division Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) into a profitable venture.

The company is set to close a USD 7.2-billion deal with Microsoft for sale of its mobile devices and services business.

“Nokia today (Monday) announced that it expects the transaction whereby the company will sell substantially all of its Devices & Services business to Microsoft to close on April 25, 2014. The transaction is now subject only to certain customary closing conditions,” Nokia had said in a statement.
