At least Ilayathalapathy Vijay fans feel that the movie, Parasite is a copy of Minnasara Kanna movie. Parasite won Oscars for Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Film. It also won award in International Feature Film category.
Bong Joon-Ho became the most sought after director after these multiple awards in one night. His previous films Okja and few more have also got International recognition but Parasite became the ultimate winner opening market for his films and Korean films too.
The story of Parasite involves talking about the differences between rich and poor in the same society. As a poor family looses everything in floods, they foil a plan to live in rich people’s house, where they work strategically.
The main head of the family first joins the house and slowly, he appoints his own ranku members as the staff and takes the family as hostages. For the climax, watch the film.
You have might have already got a feeling that this kind of story has been explored on Indian screens before. Yes, there are few films which directly use the similar storyline like the rich hero or heroine going to poor person’s family in disguise to win their hearts.
Prashanth’s Jodi has both of the leads going in disguise to each other’s houses to make their parents accept their love. But in Minnasara Kanna, Thalapathy starrer, Vijay joins the house of Khushubu who is facing tough times as an Industrialist and slowly, lets each one of his family members to join the team as workers.
He does this to win over her and save her industries from bad people. Actually, he hails also a rich and successful business family.
Well, two people can think similarly. Just because storylines are a match, we cannot call a film copy of the other. But Vijay fans are celebrating that their 1999 film, could win Oscar in 2020! If you got the connection join them in celebrations.
