Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smriti Irani who usually lauds good films recently shared the trailer of Taapsee Pannu starrer Thappad on her Instagram and said it is not okay to hit a woman, not even one slap.

“How many have heard “aurat ko hi adjust karna padta hai…” How many think “ki maar pitai sirf gareeb auraton ke hi pati karte hai…” How many believe “ki educated aadmi kabhi haath nahi uthata…” How many tell their girls their daughter in laws “koi baat nahi beta aisa to humare saath bhi hua lekin dekho aaj kitne khush hai…” read her post.

“I might not support the political ideology of the director or may disagree with some actors on some issues but this is a story that I will definitely watch and hope people watch it with their families. It’s not ok to hit a woman… not even a slap… not even JUST one slap,” Smriti Irani added.

Thappad film talks about domestic violence which we keep a blind eye on it. In the trailer, in a scene, Tapsee’s family members ask her where are you making a mess about just a single slap.

To which Tapsee responds ya its just a single slap but he should not. It has been widely reported that during the trailer screening of the film many reports reportedly said that this film is a tight slap on Kabir Singh film where the hero slaps heroine.
