Biopics of former Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa landed in legal trouble. Jayalalithaa’s Niece Deepa Jayakumar approached the Madras High Court seeking an order preventing the makers from making these projects without her consent.
In the Civil Suit filed by her, Deepa Jayakumar claimed to be the legal heir of Jayalalithaa. She made it clear neither AL Vijay nor Gowtham Menon have the legal right to make the biopic of her Aunt. She expressed the doubt whether if these Filmmakers could make those projects honestly.
In AL Vijay’s Feature Film ‘Thalaivi’, Kangana Ranaut plays Jayalalithaa. This project is bankrolled by Vishnu Vardhan Induri who co-produced NTR Biopic.
In Gowtham Menon’s Web-Series ‘Queen’, Ramya Krishna essays the role of Amma. 11 Episodes of this Web Series would be streamed on OTT Platform Mx Player.
In the past, Jayalalithaa’s Nephew Deepak Jayakumar issued a press release confirming that only AL Vijay received the consent of his Family to make the biopic. He threatened to proceed legally if anybody else makes Jayalalithaa biopic. And now, Jaya’s Niece declares even AL Vijay don’t have the right to make the biopic. Not a good sign at all..!
