Rajinikanth never wanted to become a hero. He was more than happy turning into an Actor from Bus Conductor, Playing Villain Roles and having a Scooter. The only wish he had in those days is to buy a small flat.
When Producer-cum-Scriptwriter Kalaignanam approached him to launch him as Hero 41-Years-Ago, Rajinikanth wasn’t ready to offer his nod and hence demanded Rs 50,000 remuneration to make him run away. To his surprise, Kalaignanam came back to him the next day to offer Rs 5,000 and lock the deal. 50K was much more than what Rajini used to charge for a villain role in those days.
Pathala Bhairavi was the first feature film seen by Rajinikanth as a kid. His First Dialogues in his debut flick ‘Apoorva Raagangal’ was ‘Bhairavi Veedu Idhu Thaana?’. Rajinikanth can’t say no when Kalaignanam informed him that ‘Bhairavi’ is the title of his first film as hero.
Producer Thanu who released Bhairavi offered the ‘Superstar’ title to Rajinikanth. ‘I got scared to see posters with ‘Great Superstar’ tag when Legends MGR and Sivaji Ganesan were ruling the Industry. Requested for removal of it, but Thanu Sir agreed to remove only ‘Great’ but not ‘Superstar’,’ recalled Thalaivar.
